New bank account for St George’s Church

Although many banks (including our bank, RBS) offer low cost, or even free, banking for churches and charities this is generally limited to smaller organisations with an annual banking turnover under £100,000.

Our turnover has been much higher than that in recent years (especially with the costs of Restoration) and our bank has told us that our charges increase to the full business level from 28 December 2018.

As part of our strategy to minimise the effect we have opened a Business Reserve Account (like a savings account) into which we will be paying as much of our income as possible. There are no charges for payments into a Reserve Account and no charges for subsequent transfers from that account to our current account.

If you pay your stewardship to St George’s by bank standing order the PCC Current Account will still be there to receive your payment but to avoid any charge to the church -

You are invited to switch your payment into the new account.

You can switch online for mobile/digital banking (quote “Stewardship” on payments) or you can get Standing order forms from the Church Treasurer, Tony Sanderson.

The new bank account details are:

Bank name: RBS
Account name: St George’s Parochial Church Council
Sort Code 16-00-39
Account no. 16383850

Many parishioners like to review their stewardship payments regularly and this would be an ideal opportunity to make the change.

If you currently give cash donations to St George’s you may like to consider the alternative of making a regular donation by Standing Order instead. For any information or advice on how to do this just email Tony Sanderson at treasurer@stgeorgechorley.co.uk.

Alternatively, if you would like to join Church Stewardship by a weekly cash donation through the stewardship envelope scheme please see our Stewardship Officer, Geoff Armstrong or email Jean Smith, our Gift Officer, at giftofficer@stgeorgechorley.co.uk

Footnote

You may have read the articles in the parish magazine or on the church website about the cost of keeping St George’s Church running. In a typical week we need many hours of help and about £2,600 to run St George’s and we all know how costs tend to rise year on year!

When thinking about your future plans please spend a little time considering and praying about your giving to St George’s in Money, Time & Talents.

Is this the time that you might plan for an increase?
